New Grad RN Resume Template

Tips on Customizing for a New Graduate RN Template

Starting your career as a nurse can feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t yet have years of experience to showcase. The good news? Recruiters understand this. What matters is how you present your clinical training, education, and nursing skills.

  • Focus on education first: Place your BSN/ADN and nursing school prominently. Mention honors, GPA (if strong), and key courses.
  • Highlight clinical rotations: List hospitals, units, and the type of care you practiced (e.g., ICU, pediatrics, med-surg). Show responsibilities like administering medications, assisting with procedures, or patient education.
  • Certifications matter: Include NCLEX-RN eligibility/passing, BLS, and ACLS. These prove you’re ready to practice.
  • Add transferable skills: Communication, teamwork, time management — recruiters know new grads will learn on the job, so soft skills carry weight.
  • Keep the summary short but impactful: Instead of “Seeking job,” write: “Compassionate BSN graduate with clinical experience in pediatrics and med-surg rotations, committed to providing patient-centered care.”
